An unprecedented genealogy/family history project is being launched today, in a joint effort between Archives.com, FamilySearch, findmypast.com, and other leading genealogy organizations. The 1940 U.S. Census Community Project involves indexing free digital images from the 1940 census that will be made available today. The indexing work will make these census records available for online searching.
