FamilySearch Tree and Memories Apps for iOS and Android

Review and demo of FamilySearch mobile apps for iOS and Android. Presentation by Paul Dupaix on Thursday, October 16, at 1 p.m.; repeated at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 17

This topic was also covered in the July LDSTech Broadcast (which you can review through the Broadcast Archive). FamilySearch Tree and FamilySearch Memories, both free, are new mobile apps which sync with FamilySearch.org from mobile devices so the information you add to your family history files will be preserved for future generations.

FamilySearch Memories makes, collects, preserves, and shares your favorite family memories (photos, stories, and spoken words).

In this session you will learn about taking photos of mementos, documents, old family photos (ones which are degrading over time or are damaged now but need preservation) or family events (such as reunions, graduations, memorials, junior prom dates, recitals, etc.). This app also allows you to record audio files for oral histories of family members and their memories, family stories, or jokes either by typing on the keyboard or using the microphone to capture live sound. It helps you add photos to the stories and identify and tag relatives within the photos. These are added via the automatic sync feature to the collection of documents and photos you already have in your Family History or Family Tree collection. It is currently available for Apple iOS.

The FamilySearch Tree app is a mobile companion to FamilySearch.org. The app makes it easy to add photos, stories, and audio recordings to ancestor files in your family tree.

Use the app to browse your family tree on FamilySearch.org and see portraits of relatives and documents, stories, recordings and facts about those ancestors. It also easily adds memories and records about your family relatives. The app will be available for both iOS and Android.
