LDSTech is teaming up with RootsTech to promote two events associated with RootsTech 2016, a global technology conference celebrating family connections across generations.

The conference is scheduled for February 3-6 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah USA. There is something for everyone at RootsTech, no matter the level of experience in family history or skill level with technology, but the following events are of special interest to technology innovators:

The Innovator Summit

The Innovator Summit, on February 3, is a day-long event for technology builders from around the globe and will focus on content specific to emerging technologies in the family history and genealogy industries, with emphasis on business and technological opportunities.

A keynote session with a well-known speaker will begin the day. The evening will end with a social event for Innovator Summit attendees to network with like-minded family history innovators and technology enthusiasts.

If you appreciate opportunities to learn about cutting edge technologies and innovative ways to connect families past and present, follow the registration link and browse the conference schedule. Class codes that begin with “IS” on Wednesday are part of the Innovator Summit series.

Promotional discounts apply to those who register from October 20, 2015 to January 18, 2016.

The Innovator Showdown

The Innovator Showdown is an opportunity for developers and entrepreneurs to compete for lucrative cash prizes. FamilySearch International, host for RootsTech 2016, is inviting innovators from around the globe to develop and submit the next generation of mobile and social applications that will impact discovering, preserving, and sharing family connections across generations.

An experienced panel of judges consisting of experts in family history, investing, and business will select several semi-finalists and invite them to RootsTech to present their projects in the “Innovator Alley,” an area inside the large expo hall where over 23,000 people can preview their applications.

In the final round, finalists will present their projects in the live showdown event on Friday, February 5 before the conference audience. Contest winners will be awarded $100,000 in total cash and in-kind prizes provided by industry and national sponsors.

If you are a developer wanting to showcase your work, visit rootstech.devpost.com to register and begin receiving updates, find teammates, browse resources, and learn contest rules.

Plan to submit your entry by December 1, 2015.

Help shape the future of the industry and come to the conference be on hand to help decide the winners with your live audience vote for the people’s choice. The summit, showdown, contestants, judges, demos, and conference will be a most memorable experience in 2016!
