Welcome to another Peculiar Treasure, and we hope this past Holy Week has been one of beauty, light and vision for you.

Wipe the dust from your feet, rest, and watch light and dirt reveal Light, in the form of the Easter story by Sandy Tales. The washing of feet happened on Holy Thursday, including by Pope Francis who visited a refugee centre to wash and kiss the feet of refugees – male and female – of many different faiths, all “people of God”.

Maya Angelou reminds us that no matter the storms, we can “be a rainbow in somone else’s cloud”. Of course, if you’re going to invent a time machine, it’s not clouds or rainbows you have to worry about, but your future-self wanting you to turn off the lights!

Sugar cane cropper, World War II hero, convert, bishop, father, saint – the life of Saiji Zakimi shines off the page, while Emma Watson’s valiant beatboxing with Lin-Manuel Miranda for gender equality warms hearts, and generates huge megawatt smiles.

‘It’s very intense work because the threads are very bright,’ confides a broderer of St Paul’s. The beauty of the embroidered robes and their creators are wonderful to behold. Also hidden in plain sight are the women of our family histories, with this genealogical paper shining spotlights onto how to find women in the sources and sharing some fascinating examples.

Are you “crazy busy”? The suggestion that busy is a trap is an interesting one, with the burden of busy-ness lightened with the prescription of some idleness, and maybe a little introspection. You may not think of your marriage as a jungle, but the unexpected patch of marital quicksand is nothing to take lightly.

Feeling the burn of writing your book wane and flicker? Here are some different thoughts on why you haven’t written it yet to fan the flame. Some detailed yet tiny drawings can light up the imagination and wonder reserves, as can the realisation that rare flowers are still be rediscovered over a century after the last sighting.

First Draft Poetry this week is by Kel, titled “Right, Definitions”
