These verses remind me of our society in so many ways. We have a 24 hour news cycle which relentlessly drums up controversy. And we have so many situations where attorneys seek to set up test cases and manufacture conflict for the sole purpose of gaining attention.

This kind of environment is not conducive to listening to Godly men. Instead, people look for entertainment and agitation divorced from true principles. It is only in a society such as ours or Ammoniah where a Donald Trump could rise to the top over experienced leaders and statesmen. It is only in a society where attention and outrage are synonymous with popularity.

We are now reaping the whirlwind that we have sowed with our obsession with celebrity and controversy. Like Ammoniah we stand on the precipice of destruction if we do not repent and rediscover the time tested values that made our nation great in the first place.
