invite-refugee-dinnerThe First Presidency issued a letter in October last year encouraging members to help refugees.

In the General Women’s Session of conference in March of this year, the Church invited women to help refugees in their local communities through an effort entitled “I Was a Stranger.”

Since that time, LDS Charities (the Church’s humanitarian arm) has published video vignettes for its “Give Back” series that show how some members are already reaching out to refugees.

In the video below, titled “Invite a Refugee to Dinner,” Michelle and her family invite Milan and her daughters to cook dinner together and learn about each other’s culture.

In the coming weeks, the Mormon Newsroom will share more examples of how Latter-day Saints are easing the burdens of refugees in their communities.
