This existing chapel was purchased by the Church to serve as the first LDS-owned meetinghouse in Nambour, and was dedicated on 23 September 1936. The sketch illustrated a fairly complimentary story about the Church in the Courier-Mail at Brisbane, Queensland, on Saturday, 25 July 1936.
