Youth who go inactive usually dn’t have a plan to go inactive. One of two things happens.

They have no particular plan for anything at all so they fall in with the people around them when they leave home.

Or they feel that being adult means making your own choices and being free. And the only choices they know how to make are choices to reject what their parents had them do.

Since they have lived in a good home all their life, they only way to make it clear to themselves that they are free is to reject the pattern of life they already have.

They are young and dumb. They think freedom means having no constraints. That is just a precondition. Freedom is actually acting, making things happen towards a goal, creating with a purpose.

You don’t have to wait until you are on your own to be free. You can be free now. Do things that matter because you want to.
