slam-poet-pornographyBYU-Idaho student Josh Peters was 11 years old the first time he viewed pornography and he instantly became addicted. That led to 7 years of pornography addiction, shame, broken relationships, and secrecy. But, over the years, he learned to fight the addiction through renewed faith in Heavenly Father and the Savior’s Atonement.

Josh just released the video “Slam poet exposes porn addiction!” about his experience as a pornography addict. He hopes his poetry slam video touches others.

In a video interview with East Idaho News, Josh said, “It’s helped me understand myself and understand my faith in God.”

After serving a mission, Peters began realizing that his experience could help others gain renewed hope and faith. “The more I grew to understand how being chaste can help build your faith in God and help keep those relationships safe and healthy, help you with your family in the future, the more I began to realize that and believe in that, the more I began to realize why am I hiding this passion?”

This is my poem “11 Years”. A story about an 11 year old me who for the following 7 years battled pornography addiction. It affected my relationships and the people I loved. This important piece stands in the fight against porn addiction and the belief that porn kills love. If you feel passionate about this too, share this with your loved ones! and visit FightTheNewDrug.org for more information on the addiction.
