Group Discussion 18: Musicians—Three LDS musicians (Sam Payne, Peter Breinholt, and Ryan Shupe) join Nancy Hanson in the studio to talk about the creative process of songwriting. Sam Payne traces his interest in music to his father, a folk musician who sold his records door-to-door. Peter Breinholt says that he had put away the dream of becoming a musician after learning about so many musicians with dysfunctional lives. Only after serving a mission did he eventually realize how to achieve his dream without sacrificing important things like family life. Ryan Shupe is the fifth generation of fiddlers in his family.
