It’s that time of year again — the semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begins tomorrow. Mormons all over the world wait anxiously for General Conference, held every year in April and again in October. For two days, we have the opportunity to listen to prophets and apostles and other inspired leaders as they share messages about living the gospel of Jesus Christ and trying to become better people.

We talk often of continuing revelation in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. General Conference is a time when such revelation can be witnessed. Personal revelation can also be received as we come prepared, prayerfully seeking personal guidance to our questions and concerns.

This quote from Elder Neil A. Andersen captures well how the Lord works in communicating messages to us through His leaders in General Conference:

There are no assigned subjects, no collaboration of themes. The Lord’s way, of course, is always the best way. He takes the individual prayerful efforts of each speaker and orchestrates a spiritual symphony full of revelation and power. Repeated themes, principle building upon principle, prophetic warnings, uplifting promises—the divine harmony is a miracle!
