I saw a notice on one of the social networks about November being the month of THANKSgiving and challenging us to tell what we are thankful for each day of the month. So, I thought I would TRY TO blog about this each day. They will be smaller than normal posts and will contain this same header.

Day 1 - I am thankful for Autumn and the harvest. It is (I think) my favorite time of the year where it is both chilly in the morning and warms up during the day. So, the clothing starts with a light coat in the morning and shedding that coat later in the day. The leaves of the trees are changing colors and display brilliant yellow and reds. The azure blue sky is a perfect backdrop for displaying the trees. Here in Utah, the mountains once again are snow-topped and regain their beauty. The fallen leaves that have that *crunch* sound as one walks through them.

Another part of autumn are the songs reflecting the gathering of the harvest and thanking The Lord for His bounteous goodness. It is a time when one takes pause from starts to think about the year so far, and take it all in.  Scriptually, the harvest reminds one of the Lord's second coming and yet another beautiful arrangement by Mack Wilberg:

Come, ye thankful people, come, raise the song of harvest home:
All is safely gathered in, ere the winter storms begin;
God, our maker, doth provide for our wants to be supplied:
Come to God's own temple, come, raise the song of harvest home.

All the world is God's own field, fruit unto His praise to yield;
Wheat and tares together sown, unto joy or sorrow grown;
First the blade, and then the ear, then the full corn shall appear:
Lord of harvest, grant that we wholesome grain and pure may be

For The Lord our God shall come and shall take His harvest home;
From His field shall in that day all offenses purge away;
Give His angels charge at last in the fires the tares to cast;
 But the fruitful ears to store In His garner evermore.

Even so, Lord, quickly come to Thy final harvest home;
Gather Thou Thy people in, free from sorrow, free from sin;
There, forever purified, in Thy presence to abide:
 Come with all Thine angels, come, raise the joyous harvest home!

Even so, Lord quickly come!
