This single verse teaches two significant truths. First, the wickedness that surrounds us provides no excuse for our sin. Even if everyone is acting unrighteously and even if everyone is believing falsely, we have an obligation to follow the things we know to be true and right. The gospel is true even when we are the only ones that know it. The promptings of the spirit that we have received are right and true even when others mock. Our callings and our membership in Christ’s church is from God whatever the world may think or say.Second, Corianton struggled because he really did not understand the importance of his calling and ministry. He did not really understand the power and the need of the atonement. In order to tend to our ministry. We must first understand it. We must realize that we are entrusted a calling from our father in heaven. We must understand that we are entrusted this life from our father in heaven. If we truly understand that, then it will be much easier to stay strong in the face of temptation.
