2 And he called them by name, saying: Ye shall call on the Father in my name, in mighty prayer; and after ye have done this ye shall have power that to him upon whom ye shall lay your hands, ye shall give the Holy Ghost; and in my name shall ye give it, for thus do mine apostles.
Christ is saying that before we administer a priesthood ordinance we should seek the will of the father in “mighty prayer.” Reading this verse makes me realize that I have at times been to casual in giving a blessing or anointing for the sick without very carefully spiritual preparation. However, if we want others to be able to receive the full measure of blessings associated with the ordinance, then we must seek the will of God fervently. We owe those we serve that much
