Blurred Vision: Imaginary or Real Images?
I took this photo (click to enlarge) in the State Capitol of Wisconsin today, playing around a new camera . Actually two consecutive photos of the same scene have been blended here. It reminds me how meaning and details can easily be obscured. Can you identify any electronic objects in this image, for example?
Sometimes details are blurred by time and distance, just as our understanding of ancient writings may be difficult to understand today. Things that may seem absurd and completely made up, like an oil painting of an imaginary scene, may actually be more like real images from real scenes, like the image above. Sometimes, though, portions of the picture will come together, and maybe with a little helpful explanation (like, "that's a bag, that's a head, that's a dress"), the image can begin to make sense. Study, analysis, and discussion can pay off, whereas snap judgments might mislead.
