All of us struggle to open the channels of communication with our Heavenly Father. I took the title of this post from a quote in, Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith, page 131.

The title is a little misleading, in my opinion. Yes, we need to ask in prayer when we desire something from the throne of grace, but my experience has taught me that when I take no thought save to ask, I find disappointment instead of answers. Heavenly Father, more often than not, requires us to ask in a “special way” before He will acknowledge our prayer.

How do we ask in a special way?

I came across a guest post in another blog that I thought did a good job answering this question. I am trying to get in touch with the author of the post, but so far haven’t heard back from him.
