The Clerk and Technology Support Web Site (clerk.lds.org) is a helpful resource for clerks, secretaries, record keepers, stake technology specialists, auditors, and leaders who supervise these individuals. The site provides helpful information about record keeping and technology topics, including policies and procedures, troubleshooting tips, a library of training resources, and links to additional resources.
The site includes a number of helpful resources:
- The letter and policies section, which is an archive of relevant correspondence from Church headquarters.
- The troubleshooting section, which is a collection of articles and helpful tips for anyone using or supporting Church technology.
- The LDS Tech wiki, a constantly growing knowledgebase of information designed so clerks and their leaders can collaborate and share best practices.
- A glossary of terms relevant to clerks and technology specialists.
- The discussion forum where users can give and receive support and feedback about technology and how it helps us serve in the Church.
- Record-keeping and auditing training, a series of interactive self-study lessons to help leaders and clerks understand and fulfill their record-keeping duties.
- A calendar of events and activities relevant to clerks and technology specialists.
The site is updated frequently. Users can opt to receive automatic e-mail notifications when content changes in the discussion forum and the wiki.
The wiki is the most recent addition. It is growing quickly (doubling in size in its first two months) as contributors from around the world add and refine pages. In a recent pilot test, volunteers from around the world translated several wiki pages into Spanish and Portuguese. We hope to see pages in many more languages in the future.
The discussion forum has a worldwide audience of several thousand subscribers, and the wiki has about 500 subscribers. Since there are more than 50,000 clerks in the Church, we have only reached the “tip of the iceberg” and hope to see many more subscribers in the future.
The first 120 pages of content in the clerk wiki were donated by Kent S. Larsen of New York, New York, who had been funding and maintaining his own wiki for LDS clerks. This contribution allowed the new site to “go live” nearly overnight.
