Today, new.lds.org released its final upgrade in preparation for debuting as the official LDS.org on November 30, 2010. The improvements made today include the following:
Serving in Church
This is an introductory version of the new Serving in Church section. It includes initial information for the following:
- Melchizedek Priesthood
- Aaronic Priesthood
- Relief Society
- Young Women
- Primary
- Sunday School
- Young Single Adult Leaders
This section of LDS.org will be improved and expanded over time with additional content and training materials.
Prophets and Apostles Speak Today
The home page of new.lds.org has a heightened focus on the section Prophets and Apostles Speak Today, which continues to expand. You can find this section in the Study section, or just click the title Prophets and Apostles Speak Today in the right-hand column of the home page at new.lds.org. This section includes the following subsections:
- Unto All the World, which tracks the ministry of prophets and apostles today
- Recent Messages
- First Presidency Messages
- General Conference
- The Family: A Proclamation to the World
- The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles
- Gospel Classics
Languages
Some content is now available in Spanish and German. See the language selector at the top right of every page. Not all the Spanish and German content is complete, but it will improve each week. More content and more languages will be added in future releases.
Search
The search experience has also been improved. The search box at the top of each page now gives you a list of suggested search terms as you type, instead of giving a list of Recommended Results. This should help you form more precise searches. Upon selecting one of the suggested search terms, or entering your own terms, the completed search will lead to a more user-friendly results page that includes both hand-picked recommended results and results returned by the search engine algorithm.
You’ll find this same search experience across the magazines, manuals, and general conference pages. Future improvements to the search engine will extend its reach into additional sections of the site.
Secured Website for Church Leaders
This site is available only to stake presidents, bishops, clerks, and executive secretaries (login required) at new.lds.org/leader. It was announced in a notice dated October 1, 2010. The site brings together in one place membership and organization information, leadership training resources, reports, announcements, and other Church applications to help these leaders fulfill their callings.
Calendars and Directories
The stake and ward calendars and directory that we told you about previously are now available in languages. (See transition information.)
