Near the beginning of his April 2009 conference address, Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said, “Because I love you, I am going to speak to you heart to heart, without mincing words.” As part of the message that followed, he shared tender personal experiences showing the peace that comes through temple covenants.

Many years ago, within a period of six weeks, two of Elder and Sister Scott’s young children passed away. Referring to how he and Sister Scott handled this difficult time, he declared, “We rejoice in the knowledge that all seven of our children are sealed to us for time and all eternity.” With that same conviction, he has continued to minister since Sister Scott passed away 16 years ago.

“When we live righteously and have received the ordinances of the temple, everything else is in the hands of the Lord.”

Whatever our trials and whenever our time of need, we can find peace and strength in the temple. As you consider when you will next attend, you can read, watch, or listen to Elder Scott’s complete address, “Temple Worship: The Source of Strength and Power in Times of Need.”
