How was Job a type of Christ?
  1. He was called “perfect and upright, and one that feared God and eschewed evil” (Job 1:1).
  2. God says of him, “My servant…that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil” (Job 1:8).
  3. He did much good to everyone around him, yet when in difficulty and distress he was forsaken.
  4. He was protected and prospered by God, but also sorely tempted by Satan to see if he would sin out of resentment.
  5. He began as a wealthy, prosperous, respected man (symbolizing the great status of the premortal Jehovah) who was brought down into the depths of misery, pain, suffering, loneliness, poverty, and rejection (symbolizing Jesus’s condescension to be mortal and to suffer for us).
  6. He suffered far beyond what he deserved.
  7. He was righteous, yet he was reproached by his friends who didn’t understand him.
  8. His friends accused him of all kinds of sins he hadn’t committed.
  9. In the end, he regained his respected and prospering status, symbolizing the resurrection and glorification of Jesus Christ.
