sweep-earth-2The new website Sweep the Earth at SweepTheEarth.me is a place for members of the LDS community to find and share positive messages that are authentic, edifying, and praiseworthy.

Sweep the Earth is the vision of two friends on a digital mission to help fill the Earth with goodness—beginning with positive messages. Join them on their quest to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ by sharing positive messages with your friends and family.

sweep-earthYou can search for quotes by keyword, author, category, or hashtag. You can also create and upload your own quote images to the site for others to view and share.

sweep-earth-bednarAfter hearing Elder David A. Bednar urge Latter-day Saints to “sweep the earth with messages filled with righteousness and truth. . .and literally to sweep the earth as with a flood,” two friends Tiafau Purcell and Colton Malone came up with the idea for the website Sweep the Earth to give Latter-day Saints access to photo messages (memes) to share on social media. They realized that there wasn’t a single source that was creating the existing images out there.

sweep-earth-4Tiafau Purcell has the job of compiling LDS quotes, verifying their authenticity, and then designing the photo message. Colton Malone takes care of the site programming and providing user access to all the quotes on the site.

In the mission statement on the site, they explain that members of the Church believe in being missionaries in every aspect of our lives. “We are blessed to live, learn, and serve in the most remarkable dispensation of time. We have the responsibility to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with all nations, kindreds, tounges, and people. Advancements in technology now make it easier for us to do so — a time when technology is our means of transportation, communication, and living….

“We believe all of these advancements in technology should be used for good and most importantly, to share the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. These tools are ‘part of the Lord hastening his work in the latter-days.’

“We believe social media is one of these tools the Lord has provided to spread His gospel. Because of social media, one person can make a significant change. Positive messages shared on social media can ‘personally and positively impact large numbers of individuals and families.'”

Creating SweeptheEarth.me is their way of being missionaries. They hope you will join them in their mission to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through the sharing of positive messages with the world!
