#BecauseHeLives Easter Message Seen by Millions

Because of your help in sharing the Church’s “Because He Lives” Easter video, it has been viewed nearly 30 million times and parts of it may have been seen by up to 329 million people! And the rest of the story is that the numbers in Spanish and Portuguese were more than in English.

Video Views Compared to Last Year’s Videos

This year’s “Because He Lives” Easter video has built on the success of last year’s Christmas and Easter videos. This year’s Easter video had more than 5 times the number of views from last year’s Easter video. The chart below shows the growth from 598,000 views per day for last year’s “Because of Him” Easter video, to 930,000 views per day for the “He Is the Gift” 2014 Christmas video, and now 3.2 million views per day for this year’s Easter video (including 88.5 views per second on Easter Sunday).

Video Views by Language

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of this year’s initiative was its non-English reach. The video was published in 21 languages. The Portuguese version of the video was viewed more than the English, and the Spanish views were twice that. The chart below shows the following numbers of views:

Spanish: 14.8 million
Portuguese: 6.8 million
English: 6.5 million
Japanese: 766,000
Italian: 670,000

On Easter Sunday, a 15-second clip of the “Because He Lives” video was showcased at the top of YouTube’s home page in 9 countries (United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Japan and Italy). The clip automatically ran whenever someone opened the YouTube homepage, making it possible for 329 million people to have seen at least part of the clip.

More than 2 million people accepted the invitation to visit the HeLives.mormon.org website between March 27 and April 5, 2015.
