The Priesthood Restoration historical site near Harmony, Pennsylvania, was rededicated on September 19, 2015. This is where Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery baptized each other in the Susquehanna River on May 15, 1829 under the direction of John the Baptist.
In addition to a visitors’ center, the historical site includes the reconstructed homes of Joseph and Emma Smith and Isaac and Elizabeth Hale. Visitors can walk through the woods where John the Baptist restored the Aaronic Priesthood and visit the baptismal site at the Susquehanna River.
For those who are not able to visit the historical site, the Church has created an interactive map where you can see a virtual tour with photos, information, and links to learn more about each place. You’ll gain insight on how the restoration of the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood unfolded as you read about how Emma Hale Smith met Joseph and see photos of the home where they lived while much of the Book of Mormon was translated.
You can watch the rededication of the Priesthood Restoratation site on LDS.org.
