The first missionaries in modern times (that is, since the brief 1850s visit by missionaries traveling in the region) visited Singapore in 1968. Five years earlier, though, the tiny nation had received a visit by Elder Gordon B. Hinckley of the Quorum of the Twelve (I don’t know why he went there – does any reader?), who met with three British members living there.
