Louis McClellan Potter (1873-1912) was an American sculptor, painter, and printmaker whose work explores spirituality in cultures he found exotic. One of those “exotic cultures” was Mormonism. Potter spent several weeks in Salt Lake in 1908, working on busts of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, and Joseph F. Smith (his bust of Joseph F.
