In a season where citizens and leaders alike call for abrogating the civil rights of people who are “not like us,” it may be worthwhile to see the words of another era when violence was encouraged oh-so-casually by public spokesmen, not in response to any particular crime or outrage but merely because the intended victims were representatives of a despised people.
