worldwide-indexing-event-2017-records-indexed7,275,546 records were indexed in 72 hours during FamilySearch’s Worldwide Indexing Event held October 20–22, 2017. Thanks to the nearly 80,000 volunteers around the world who transcribed historical documents to make them searchable online.

These 80,000 volunteers, including over 9,000 first-time volunteers, were from 116 countries, indexed in 10 different languages, and represented all ages. The infographic below gives more information.

If you missed the event, you can still volunteer anytime to index records to help others find their ancestors. Just go to familysearch.org/indexing to begin.
