Beginning this month, eligible Latter-day Saints anywhere in the world can be considered for a senior service mission. (This option was previously available only to those who live in the United States, Canada, and a limited number of other areas.) These missionaries generally live at home and serve for 8–40 hours a week for a minimum of 6 months. The minimum age for senior service missionaries (individuals or couples) is generally 26.

The Church’s 20,000-plus senior service missionaries assist in mission offices, temples, bishops’ storehouses, distribution centers, FamilySearch centers and libraries, self-reliance programs, BYU–Pathway, employment centers, and many other places.

Additional details about senior service missionary opportunities can be found in this letter and enclosure from the First Presidency and in the article “Senior Service Missionary Opportunities Are Expanding for Latter-day Saints Around the World.”
