Now that the Hill Cumorah Pageant has concluded, the Church will begin a long-term project to preserve the historic and sacred nature of the area. The Hill Cumorah in Manchester, New York, is where Joseph Smith received visits from the angel Moroni and retrieved the gold plates that contained the record now known as the Book of Mormon.
The decades-long project will reforest the landscape and preserve the memory of the place where Joseph Smith was prepared for his prophetic calling.
