This year, For the Strength of Youth (FSY) conferences will be available to nearly 135,000 youth across the United States and Canada. FSY is a unique program staffed almost entirely by young single adults.
FSY traditionally receives substantially more female applicants than males for counselor and other staff positions. To support FSY’s recruiting efforts, Church leaders are asked to ensure young single adult men (must be a minimum of 19 years old before June 1, 2024) are made aware of this opportunity. Sisters may also be encouraged to apply.
Qualified applicants can learn more by visiting FSYCounselor.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
Leaders should consider the following when encouraging young single adults to apply:
- FSY summer staff members must worthily hold a current temple recommend.
- FSY conference sessions occur from May 26–August 10; summer staff members do not need to work the entire summer. FSY covers all associated session travel costs, including room and board at sessions, and additionally provides an $800–1,100 USD or $1,089–1,498 CAD weekly allowance, depending on position.
- FSY summer staff are required to attend an in-person counselor training and complete online training. In-person training will be held in Provo, Utah, for those working in the United States and in Calgary, Alberta, for those working in Canada. FSY provides a one-time stipend to assist with travel-to-training expenses. Dates and additional information are provided on the FSY Employment website.
- Please encourage young single adults to apply primarily based on their ability to strengthen youth rather than as an opportunity for the young adult to be strengthened. Young single adults who support or promote any doctrine, teachings, or practices contrary to those of the Church or who are currently having a membership council should not apply to be an FSY summer staff member.
