As you study the Doctrine and Covenants in Come, Follow Me this year, you can deepen your understanding by exploring the stories and viewing photos of places where sacred events occurred. This is one in a series of articles about key Church history sites.
The Joseph Smith Birthplace, located in Sharon, Vermont, is a historic site and a memorial to Joseph Smith Jr., the first President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joseph Smith, the prophet through whom Jesus Christ restored His gospel, was born in a small farmhouse once located on this site. The site features a visitors’ center and 50-foot granite obelisk to commemorate Joseph Smith’s birthplace.
The Joseph Smith Birthplace Memorial welcomes visitors year-round. Guided tours are available to visitors at no charge. Some features of the historic site are self-guided.
See the Joseph Smith Birthplace page and the What to Expect When You Visit the Joseph Smith Birthplace Memorial for schedule hours and more information and photos.
