Did you know that you can access an electronic copy of your patriarchal blessing that you can view online or download to your computer or smart phone? You can also get copies of blessings for deceased direct-line ancestors.

How To Access Your Patriarchal Blessing

On ChurchofJesusChrist.org

1. Sign in to ChurchofJesusChrist.org with your Church account.
2. In the upper right corner, click Resources, then Patriarchal Blessing.

Note: If you have not previously requested a digital copy of your blessing, it may take a few weeks to fulfill your request to see your blessing.

On the Gospel Library App

This option is currently only available to members outside the USA and Canada.

1. Sign in to the app with your Church account.
2. In the Home section of the app, tap the Patriarchal Blessing card.

Note: To view your patriarchal blessing, you must use app version 7.4 or later. Also, if you have not previously requested a digital copy of your blessing, it may take a few weeks to fulfill your request to see your blessing.

How To Access The Patriarchal Blessings of Family Members

You may request a digital copy of a deceased, direct-line family member’s blessing on the Family Blessings page. Depending on the volume of worldwide requests, it may take a few weeks to locate and upload the requested blessing.

All known patriarchal blessings have now been digitized by the Church and are available for request. Since patriarchal blessings are sacred, the Church requests that blessings not be distributed or shared with those outside of your immediate family, including through electronic means such as in the memories section of FamilySearch, or on social media or websites.

What Is a Patriarchal Blessing?

Patriarchal blessings are given to worthy members of the Church by ordained patriarchs. Every worthy, baptized member of the Church is entitled to and should receive a patriarchal blessing, which provides inspired direction from the Lord. Patriarchal blessings include a declaration of a person’s lineage in the house of Israel and contain personal counsel from the Lord. As a person studies his or her patriarchal blessing and follows the counsel it contains, it will provide guidance, comfort, and protection.
