The First Presidency has named W. Christopher Waddell the new Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Todd Budge will serve as First Counselor, and Sean Douglas will serve as Second Counselor.
This announcement fills the gap left by Elder Gérald Caussé, who was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on November 6, 2025. Elder Caussé had served as Presiding Bishop for more than 10 years. Bishop Waddell and Bishop Budge were Elder Caussé’s counselors.
The Presiding Bishopric works under the direction of the First Presidency. They manage temporal matters, such as humanitarian aid, welfare programs, tithing and fast offerings, physical facilities, and the organization of membership records. They also travel frequently to minister to Church members around the world.
