‘Plan’ is the wrong kind of concept for life – to think of life as having a ‘Plot’ comes much closer to the proper Christian attitude.

We don’t know how we are going to get to the end of this story and we don’t know when.  We still feel like shrieking “don’t go into that room!” at the main character and we still get frustrated when the protagonist makes things more complicated just by being a chump.  But we still keep turning the pages because we know that the happy ending is gonna make the whole story worthwhile.   (We don’t skip to the end, either, because its the whole story that makes the happy ending worthwhile).  Even if there is a it of deus ex machina at the end, we trust the Author to pull it off well.
