My general impression is that the Temple functions to sustain – as a living reality – the eternal perspective in general; and the living reality of post-mortal existence in particular.

And the desperate need for this (in the context of mass media secular modernity) is one important reason why there has been such a vigorous programme of Temple building etc. over the past generation
