Last Christmas, as part of the #ShareTheGift initiative, we witnessed one of the largest YouTube collaborations in history. LDS YouTube creators gathered in Provo, Utah, to break the world record for the largest live nativity. A video of the event was watched nearly 9.5 million times.
This year, a variety of YouTube stars reunited for an event called the “12 Days of Social” to promote #ASaviorIsBorn. Each day, a participating YouTube creator will release a new video on their channel sharing a message centered on the Church’s campaign. Participating YouTube stars include Lindsey Stirling, Alex Boye, Tiffany Alvord, Gardiner Sisters, Ellie & Jared, David Archuleta, Stuart Edge, Peter Hollens, Jenny Oaks Baker, Devin Graham, and Studio C.
Then on December 13th, a music video featuring some of these stars singing “Silent Night,” will be released by Shay Carl on the Shaytards YouTube channel.
“Christmas is a time for messages of peace, hope and the love of Jesus Christ to reach a world that really needs a little holiday cheer,” said Greg Droubay, Director of Media for the Missionary Department. “Each YouTube star has become personally invested in using their time, effort and influence to share this Christmas message. It’s amazing to see them band together from across genres to support this cause.”
The first video, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” by Jenny Oaks Baker was released yesterday and posted on her YouTube channel and also at christmas.mormon.org.
