- The men who took the 116 pages decided to alter them. With halfwit backwoods cunning, they reasoned that either Joseph was making it up, in which case he’d come up with something different, or he wasn’t, in which case their alterations would make it look different. They left no room for God to alter their plans. Seeking a sign is bad enough, but ignoring signs is worse. Be open to God changing your mind.
- The Aaronic Priesthood “holds the keys of the ministering of angels, and of the gospel of repentance, and of baptism by immersion for the remission of sins.” Interesting that repentance is a priesthood power. Which means its not something we can do on our own. We need outside help to accomplish it. Any sinner knows the experience of the spirit being willing but the flesh being weak. At the same time, it is an Aaronic Priesthood power. It does not require the Holy Ghost to do. Everyone is capable of knowing they have done wrong and pushing to do right.
- “Reap while the day lasts.” Blessings are perishable.
