What are the top 5 most iconic American hymns?

In no particular order, I can think of

The following are hymns that were written outside the U.S. but still in some sense could be considered iconically American

Praise God, from whom All Blessing Flow

Nearer, My God, to Thee

Amazing Grace

 

You would want a spiritual or two.  Picking which one would be hard.  I’m partial to reverant arrangements of that song they sang at Rosa Parks’ funeral, can never remember its name, though its of recent vintage and I doubt qualifies.

Swing Low, Sweet Chariot

 

One LDS hymn probably qualifies because of its historical associations

Come, Come Ye Saints

 

I’d like to add, though they probably don’t make the cut

Praise to the Man

A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief (only partly American, even)
