two-purposes-video-doorsWatch the new video “Two Purposes: Accepting and Including People with Disabilities” that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints created in collaboration with the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, the Congregation Kol Ami for all our people, and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities—Disabilities, Religion, and Spirituality Program.

This video appears on the recently-updated Disability Resources section of the Church’s website at disability.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Nearly one in three households has someone with a disability. We have a unique opportunity to support these people and their caregivers in their efforts to belong and live their faith.

If you’re an individual with a disability, a parent or caregiver of an individual with a disability, or a leader or teacher, these updated Church resources could be helpful.

The day the “Two Purposes” video debuted at the Summer Institute on Theology and Disability at Hope College in Michigan, a podcast was created by Blair Hodges from the BYU Maxwell Institute, titled “MIPodcast #94—People with disabilities in religious communities.” He interviewed a panel of 12 distinguished scholars, organizers, religious leaders, and writers. One of the scholars he interviews is Katie Steed, the manager of disabilities for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Review the great new resources at disability.ChurchofJesusChrist.org, including teacher resource videos to help you learn how to more effectively help students of all abilities.
