I’ve been blogging for a while now. Some posts are now irrelevant, some forgettable, some still relevant and some are still incredibly relevant and important.
The following are my best and most crucial postings. I’ll post them in the order of how important I view them:
1. Blog Series on the ChurchofJesusChrist.org Tools and Member Tools
First penned in 2022, I update this series yearly so that it will continue to be accurate. These tools are the most misused and neglected digital tools the Church provides. If used correctly, they could revolutionize things in the Church, especially at the local level.
Instead of reading and following instructions, people are just winging and doing what has been done in the past, especially in the old paper system. It’s corrupting these marvelous tools.
The Church’s instructions found in the Help Center, address the mechanics of the tools only. In my series, I suggest tactics for implementation and best practices and explain things in detail.
Here is the entire series:
- Part 1: Information Haves and Have Nots
- Part 2: This is an Emergency!
- Part 3: Yeah, I Use Them, But What Are They?
- Part 4: History of the System - Why are We Here?
- Part 5: Calendaring Need No Longer Be Odious
- Part 6: Multiple Calendars Need Not Lead to Multiple Headaches
- Part 7: Togethering, Not Separating: Calendaring in the Modern Latter-day Saint Age
- Part 8: Bury the Old Leadership Calendar Legacy and Those Who Practice It
- Part 9: The Building is Involved So Include It!
- Part 10: Get in Sync and Make it Sync!
- Part 11: Random But Important Thoughts on Calendaring
- Part 12: Who is Responsible and Responsible for What?
- Part 13: Put on Your Training Pants and Let’s Get Started

- Part 15: Rules to Calendar and Live By: Some More
- Part 16: Rules to Calendar and Live By: Even More
- Part 17: Rules to Calendar and Live By: The Last
- Part 18: So, What Does Email Have to Do with It?
- Part 19: The System All Hinges on the MRN!
- Part 20: But the Stake HAS to Do This!
- Part 21: Conclusion, Solutions, and Despair
This modern curse is becoming an increasing problem. I see evidence of it every week and incidences of it are exploding.
I identified the existing problem but I coined the term, “Spiritual Vaunting” to explain it. Here’s the series:
- An Introduction to the Introduction
- Introduction: Spiritual Vaunting - Defined and Setting the Stage

- Part 5: What’s In It for Me?!
- Part 6: Gimme the Credit!
- Part 7: Solutions - This Needs to Stop!
I first published this in 2010 and updated it about ten years later. It is becoming more relevant. It will not offend you or make you think I’m on the road to apostasy. It’s very carefully done and well worth your time.
Here’s the series:
- Part 1: Introduction and Types of Corruption
- Part 2: Examples of Corruption from Modern and Ancient Times

The whole world is getting more and more materialistic. I think we accept it because it is so prevalent, even though it violates our values and our beliefs. Be more aware of this insidious practice and overcome it by recognizing all of its manifestations.
Here’s the series:
- Part 1 We Can't Take it With Us or Even Use it Here
- Part 2 Stuff & Nonsense
- Part 3 Out of Purgatory or Into Heaven
- Part 4 What We Consume Ends Up Consuming Us
- Part 5 Affluence or the Appearance of It
- Part 6 Titles, Labels and Lemon Juice
- Part 7 Power and Other Addictions
- Part 8 Summer Cottages in Babylon
- Part 9 Valuing Based on Utility
- Part 10 Get Rid of It!
- Part 11: Consecration & Conclusion
5. Relief Society and “The Aggregation of Marginal” Losses
This is a single posting but it is about 3,500 words so it is extensive. It’s a subject I feel very strongly about. In fact, I felt so strongly about it that I printed off a copy of it and sent it to the General Relief Society Presidency in Salt Lake City. Yes, I did that.
