We’ve provided information on LDS Media Talk about the LDS mobile apps provided by the Church. With these apps, you can access lots of content provided by the Church if you have to have a smartphone with an operating system like Apple, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows.

The challenge is that a large majority of members don’t have smartphones. But more than 5 billion people worldwide have access to standard cell phones, also called feature phones.

Nearly all mobile phones today have Java-enabled technology, which means they have the capability to download content. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy to make an app that is compatible for the thousands of different cell phone models and platforms. It’s also not as easy to download applications to feature phones as it is to smartphones.

The Church has embarked on a project to make the Gospel Library available on feature phones so that more people everywhere can download and study the scriptures, general conference addresses, Sunday manuals, and other Church content. The project team has released beta versions of the Gospel Library for the J2ME and Symbian in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, and Samoan.

If you have a J2ME or Symbian phone, please download the beta versions and provide feedback. If you have technical experience and would like to help, you can join the project by clicking the Projects tab on that page, navigating to the Gospel Library for Feature Phones project, then clicking Join.
