Here is a tale that is more of a “why do it” than a “who dunnit” or “how to do it.”
Yesterday morning I was surveying a diary kept by Joseph F. Smith in 1881, not looking for anything in particular but keeping an eye out for stories. My eye fell on this entry for 4 April 1881:
Wm. Heberhart, a “Jack-Mormon,” and thief, confessed to having stolen $2000.00/100 from the drug departme...
